Automata Fund for Embodied Robotics

Supporting bold creators advancing embodied AI through real-world robots that fight, perform, create, and collaborate with humans.

The Automata Fund for Embodied Robotics supports projects exploring how intelligent machines move, adapt, and interact in the physical world. Inspired by the ethos behind Ultimate Fighting Bots, this Fund champions robotics as a living, cultural medium. From combat robotics and competitive leagues to expressive machines that dance, make art, or assist humans, we seek projects that treat the real world as a training ground where failure, friction, and interaction drive evolution. This is where embodied AI meets consequence, creativity, and human connection.

Eligibility

This Fund supports robotics projects aligned with Automata Interactive’s mission to advance embodied AI through real-world interaction, competition, and collaboration. We welcome artistic, technical, experimental, and hybrid approaches that treat robots as physical agents learning through motion, contact, and human feedback.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- The project must center on a physical robotic system (humanoid or non-humanoid).
- Robots must operate in real-world environments, not simulation-only.
- Projects may include robot combat, performance, art-making, sports, assistive robotics, or human–robot interaction.
- Human involvement (piloting, training, collaboration, or feedback) must be a meaningful component.
- Projects should explore movement, balance, coordination, adaptation, or embodied intelligence.
- Ethical responsibility must remain human-led, with clear accountability.
- Open experimentation, documentation, or cultural storytelling is strongly encouraged.
