Backing the artists, scientists, and community leaders regenerating the Riviera Maya and the Mesoamerican Reef bioregion, culture and ecology together.
The Riviera Maya sits where the jungle meets the second largest reef system on Earth. Cenotes feed the aquifer, mangroves hold the coast, and Maya culture runs through all of it. It is also one of the fastest-developing coastlines in the Americas, and the people restoring it are usually the last to be resourced. The Riviera Maya Regenerative Futures Fund backs projects rooted in this bioregion: artists and filmmakers telling its stories, scientists and regenerative innovators restoring reef, mangrove, and forest, educators and community leaders weaving people back into place. Curated by ReFi Tulum, a community that gathers residents and visitors around cleanups, plantings, coral work, and regenerative cultural experiences, the fund is being built with its community, not just for it: projects, co-curators, and sponsors shape the pool together. The reef is one living system, from cenote to coral. So is the culture that cares for it.

We welcome artists, filmmakers, storytellers, scientists, regenerative innovators, educators, and community leaders working in or for the Riviera Maya and the wider Mesoamerican Reef bioregion, from Quintana Roo and Yucatan down the coast to Belize and Honduras.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Rooted in the Bioregion: Based in, led from, or creating direct benefit for the Riviera Maya or the wider Mesoamerican Reef bioregion.
- Regeneration, Culture, or Public Good: Contributes to ecological regeneration, cultural vitality, or the public good of the region. One is enough; all three is wonderful.
- In Relationship with Place: Demonstrates a meaningful, ongoing relationship with local communities or ecosystems, not a parachute project.
- Clear Project: A defined project with an intended impact and a clear use of funds.
- Every Discipline Welcome: Film, visual art, music, science, technology, education, and community organizing all qualify, as long as the work serves the bioregion.
