Solar Regeneration Fund for Nigerian Creatives

Funding solar-powered, connected hubs across Nigeria where young musicians, filmmakers, and builders can finally make and share their work.

Across Nigeria the power fails, the internet fails with it, and every creative project pays the price: a film that cannot upload, a track that cannot render, a class that drops mid-lesson. The Solar Regeneration Fund for Nigerian Creatives backs the young people fixing this from the ground up. Student collectives turning shipping containers and campus rooms into solar-powered, Starlink-connected studios. Self-taught solar technicians and welders who build the systems and publish how they did it. And the musicians, filmmakers, designers, and climate and Web3 educators who fill those rooms with work. The model already runs: at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, a 20-foot container hub on six solar panels and a 7.2 kWh battery bank serves the campus community of musicians, coders, and builders. Every funded hub documents its build openly on Green Goods so the next team starts from a working recipe instead of scratch. The hub is the venue. The creators are the point.

Eligibility

We welcome Nigerian student collectives, campus builder clubs, creative crews, and solar builders who want a place to make things that stays on when the grid goes off.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Based in Nigeria, On Site: Led by young creatives or builders with at least one team member physically at the hub. No remote-only projects.
- Shared Space, Not Private Kit: A container hub, campus lab, community centre, or maker space that runs on solar and battery storage with dedicated internet (Starlink or equivalent, not a phone hotspot).
- Something Creative Has to Happen There: Bootcamps, workshops, recording sessions, film production, fabrication, open-source building. Hardware with no creative or learning programme attached does not qualify.
- Publish the How-To: Schematics, costs, and curricula released openly so the next team can copy the build.
- Report in Public: Funded teams onboard to Green Goods and log the build plus the life of the space afterward: workshops, sessions, maintenance runs, photos, and a real budget.
- Shared Pool: We aim to fund ten or more hubs, so projects should show real community backing and a right-sized ask rather than one plan that swallows the pool.
