Travelling Villages Learning Swarms Fund

Funding travelling and pop-up villages where children and families learn together, outside classroom walls, in communities that run on consent.

A village does not need a fixed address. Some of the most alive learning environments for children happen in a field for two weeks, in a caravan of families crossing a country, or in a pop-up camp that appears, teaches, and moves on. The Travelling Villages Learning Swarms Fund backs the people building them: travelling and pop-up villages, unschooling groups, wild camps and nature immersions, and family collectives where children follow what they want to learn and the adults take their own growth just as seriously. These are communities that make decisions by consent, treat elders and initiations into adulthood as shared community practice rather than private ceremony, and hold children's culture as part of the village, not an afterthought. Practices vary. Some groups work with Torus Technology, others with Ecovillage Design, others with tools they invented on the road. What they share is a conviction that learning happens wherever a group of people commits to living and growing together. Where the Regenerative Village Culture Fund grows the relational skills inside live-in villages, this fund follows the villages that move, and the children learning inside them.

Eligibility

We welcome travelling and pop-up village makers, unschooling and alternative learning groups, family travelling collectives, wild camp and nature immersion holders, and cultural research and invention centres working with children and families anywhere in the world.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Already Villaging: You can show how you already live in village ways: with neighbours, in your community or town, across a region, or on the road.
- Children's Learning at the Centre: Real experience creating learning environments for children: alternative schools, unschooling groups, learning by doing, wild camps, or nature and gardening immersions.
- Consent-Based Decisions: The group makes decisions by consent, values intimacy and empowerment over self-interest, and keeps improving how it decides. Torus Technology, sociocracy, and similar practices all count; none is required.
- Growing Adults Too: Adults in the project take on their own personal evolution alongside the children's learning, and can say how.
- Initiations as Community Practice: Facilitates or hosts rites of passage and initiations into adulthood, for children and for growing adults, as part of village life.
- Documented and Shared Openly: An existing project with documentation, using clear tools and modalities that are shared openly so other villages can learn from them.
