About

West Dallas AR is an interactive, location-based web app combining the multimedia tools of oral histories, archival photos, and 3D modelings and animations. In an area that faces rapid gentrification and displacement, West Dallas AR aims to re-present moments and serve West Dallas residents as they walk, interact, and participate in sharing their communities' histories.

Impact

This project’s primary goals are to 1. Serve as a tool for the oral and digital preservation of the barrios' histories; a place for historic residents to reclaim space through the power of communal authorship. 2. Open lines of exchange amongst residents, both historic and new; connecting with the past in order to build an inclusive future 3. Expand the tech frontier by helping youth in the community to learn interactive media tools and their potential uses for storytelling

Funding

No displayed figures preserved for this project.

Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
