Our project Plantiverse started out with an exploration of rights for plants, by giving them autonomy. Building on the Rights of Nature movement's gains of independent legal standing for forests and species, we wanted to see if we could get operational, financial, and maybe even civil rights for non-human living beings. We gave Herbie (a herb houseplant) a form of their own autonomy, letting them make certain decisions on their own. Sensors measure Herbie's light, soil moisture, water reservoir, humidity and temperature; which are linked to decisions about mobility; so that Herbie, when in need of water or light, will go to the water source / light source. As Herbie gained decision making power over mobility, we asked ourselves, can non-human beings have economic power? What if Herbie could deliver and sell their own herbs and leaves to people? And if Herbie can sell and “earn” money, could Herbie have a bank account? Could Herbie own things, vote, or even have planetary citizenship? But how would that manifest in the real world? So we went to work with Herbie, in fact we enabled a family of plants, Minty, Ivy, Ginger and other plants, with sensors. These sensors, in turn, give readings that are then paired with a particular output of an image, Leave colors, for example, indicate water level, …. The rendering, then, becomes a visualization of physiological status of the plant itself, essentially a digital twin, or avatar, of the plant in real life. These visualizations, then were minted in the carbon neutral Solana chain and sold as NFTs or NFTrees. The funds raised via the sales will be directed to sustainable causes.
We will impact society by giving non-humans legal and financial autonomy, and even rights, on par with humans and corporations. Much that is wrong with the world today is because of the economy; a complex system that favors certain players over others. In addition to the social implications, it has a massive impact on the environment. Today: Environmental fines are so mild - only $215 billion per year - that it’s worth it for companies to overexploit natural resources (https://www.un.org/en/chronicle/article/putting-stop-global-environmental-crime-has-become-imperative) Environmental externalities hide $7 trillion of ecological waste and theft annually (https://www.unpri.org/environmental-issues/universal-ownership-why-environmental-externalities-matter-to-institutional-investors/4068.article) Earth provides $33 trillion in ecosystem services that are unpaid, and thus get no investment back into the Earth (https://conservationtools.org/library_items/1043-The-Value-of-the-World-s-Ecosystem-Services-and-Natural-Capital) We know that sustainability is insufficient; we must make our economy regenerative. But beyond regenerative is yet another term: reciprocal. We cannot regenerate the world if we do not reciprocate the gifts nature has already given us, and will do so into the future. But we cannot rely on humans’ good hearts to do so. We need an economic force - rights, money, and information - so that nature becomes an equal bargaining partner. This project is about using metaverse, NFT and digital twins as a mechanism for non-humans to gain equal rights so that we can truly establish a fully integrated and diverse approach to earth stewardship, an interspecies metaverse. We think that this is just the beginning and one of possible self-governed equitable models for a true equitable ecosystem for our planet that is inclusive. Digital twins allow for non-humans to have a presence, rights and even economic means in the metaverse that is immutable and traceable.

No displayed figures preserved for this project.
Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
