About

Almost a Decade in America is an experimental documentary and research project in New Zealand that interrogates how memory, belonging, trauma, and whiteness affect and inform our sexual and cultural identities. It will take the viewer on a journey through my memory, presenting moments of happiness, loss, exploration, and liberation throughout my upbringing, each of which is deeply tied to the land.

Impact

Engaging and celebrating Mātauranga Māori values is extremely important to me, as a Pākehā female, confronting and discussing my own positionality within the structures of colonialism and white supremacy have become an important part of my practice
