A real-world Japanese Zen temple hosted on the Metaverse by a Zen abbot
arts-mediaculture-identity
We are making a digital twin of the Gyokuryu-ji temple in Japan, hosting it on the Metaverse for regular multiuser sessions about art, history, design and philosophy across borders.
The temple, the monks, and their culture will be accessible via in-person meetings in avatar form, opening a cross cultural dialogue, providing a conflict-free place to view the world and improve our lives.
The temple is accessible now on the ENGAGE VR platform. We have started regular meetings. The location is featured in the official Engage contents section and people can join an automated event 24/7 where they meet the abbot in hologram form.
I have a degree in Japanology, and have lived here since 1989. I am fluent in Japanese. I have covered Japanese culture in media for 30 years. Our VR agency work with museums and government in cultural heritage, producing world class quality work.
No displayed figures preserved for this project.
Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
