The Physical Impossibility of Connection in Volumetric Space

Project details match catalog

About

Sometimes, when one is down, it helps to immersively explore the stories of others who are also working through depression. We create and foster a safe environment via an app platform for sharing these moments via XR volumetric video.

Impact

We want people to be okay to take a moment to express their depression-related mental health state, and to immersively and profoundly connect with others also going through depression, and thus connect the world.

Progress

Permute.xyz is an award-winning XR startup studio. Volumetric capture of our resident corgi using a no-budget 4DS labs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yl-3-6duDY and a museum installation with iPhone cap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1z5tBSVUmY

Team

During the pandemic, I spent a lot of time exploring mental health, so that people often identify me as a therapist more than an AR developer - and it's time to strongly bridge the two.

Funding

No displayed figures preserved for this project.

Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
