About

I've invented a sound-generating electronic instrument that teaches users of all hearing abilities to listen through their bones.

Impact

Those with mixed hearing loss may hear, play, and learn a new instrument. BCI facilitates the practice and performance of an instrument while alone, while also providing insight into how bodies process sound information.

Progress

I completed 70% of the project during my graduate program at NYU ITP. Because of the pandemic, however, I was not able to test it on people or further develop its usability.

Team

This project comes from my relationship to music—as someone who had hearing impairments throughout childhood and who now suffers from tinnitus, I have always had trouble hearing the sounds I make.

Funding

No displayed figures preserved for this project.

Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
