An art residency offering an alternative to today’s numbers game permeating art and culture.
arts-mediaculture-identityeducationmusic-performance
An art residency run out of my music studio, focusing on emerging artists working with sound, photography, and challenging conceptual art.
Studio Vestbirk supports young contemporary artists who for various reasons don’t qualify for governmental arts grants in Germany, may that be due to a lack of an EU passport, status of citizenship, or educational background.
The residency already runs out of my studio in Berlin-Neukölln, which doubles as a gallery. So far I have financed a research trip to Nigeria for artist Kofi Johnson so he could collect a family archive of photos and videos for his upcoming exhibit.
I am the founder of a row of successful projects in art and music. I have assembled 2 influential DJ crews, and run two record labels. Last year I released two records, a book and did my first concert tour while also taking care of my 1,5-year-old.
No displayed figures preserved for this project.
Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
