About

A project that links marine tourism and science by transforming regular marine expeditions into megafauna monitoring opportunities that generate knowledge for conservation, while promoting good practices, environmental educación and applied research.

Impact

The project creates impact by generating information to support tourism management and by promoting a sustainable tourism model that generates environmental, social, and economic benefits for local communities in the Gulf of California.

Progress

The program has engaged more than 250 operators and generated over 9,000 records. This data has helped document threats such as maritime traffic and vessel collisions, supporting informed policy and management decisions in Mexico.

Team

Ramiro Arcos is a marine biologist and early-career researcher serving as Scientific Lead. He designs monitoring protocols and data analysis frameworks, integrating citizen science to connect rigorous research with community-driven ocean action.

Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
