About

We want to continue a Music & Mindfulness program in the Tacoma Public Schools for at-risk youth, which teaches songwriting as a tool for self-awareness, emotional intelligence, & building community. Our aim is to empower youth voices.

Impact

This project supports social & emotional development in at-risk youth. Through songwriting, it fosters community, self-awareness, emotional skills, and empowered voices, helping students build confidence and a stronger sense of identity & belonging.

Progress

This program has been running successfully through the Whole Child Department of the Tacoma Public Schools for two years. We received positive feedback from teachers & students of ages 10-20. Due to budget cuts, however, funding is unpredictable.

Team

My experience as a former foster youth & social worker combined with being a full-time musician, I bring both lived experience and professional expertise to implement trauma-informed spaces that empower youth voices & stories through songwriting.

Funding

No displayed figures preserved for this project.

Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
