About

A fully backed local currency families spend at neighborhood shops, now on Brazil's public blockchain. Aratu can only be spent locally, so each benefit loops through the community's own merchants instead of leaking away.

Impact

Public money leaks out of the towns it should help. Because Aratu only circulates locally, one benefit is spent again and again through the same neighborhood, so a single reais does the work of many.

Progress

Live on RBB testnet, Brazil's public-permissioned blockchain, the pilot has processed over USD 175M considering this pilot and other currently reporting. There is no revealing of personal spending, only flow of funds.

Team

I am a lawyer by background, with experience in economics and tech. I previously led Celo in Latin America and contributed to MIT's Computational Law Report. Auditable, sovereign DPI and DPGs is our core.

Funding

No displayed figures preserved for this project.

Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
