About

Glo Dollar is the antipoverty stablecoin. It is backed by a mix of cash & government bonds, which generate interest; we give that interest away (minus third-party expenses) to GiveDirectly, an NGO that creates basic income for people in poverty.

Impact

We aim to create basic income of $34/month for every person in extreme poverty. In the long-run, we expect every $20k of Glo Dollar market cap to make basic income for one person. 20B stablecoin = 1 million basic incomes.

Progress

We've launched with our issuance partner (https://www.glodollar.org/articles/brale-and-the-glo-foundation), assembled a team of 15 people (https://www.glodollar.org/team), and are gearing up to launch on Uniswap.

Team

Well it's not *my* project per se -- I am an employee of the Glo Foundation -- but I think we have a really good team who bring a lot of experience in finance, tech, and DeFi. See https://www.glodollar.org/articles/about-us for leader bios.

Funding

No displayed figures preserved for this project.

Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
