A living map showing how safe a city feels after dark

Conscious Cities community-economy

Project details match catalog

About

I am building a system that records how people experience streets after dark. Instead of only measuring crime, Night Map collects information about lighting, visibility, abandoned spaces, traffic, crowds, open businesses, and how safe people actually

Impact

Cities often measure safety after something bad happens. Night Map could help communities identify uncomfortable or dangerous spaces before incidents occur and understand what makes one street feel welcoming while another feels threatening.

Progress

The first experiment will map several nighttime walking routes in one neighborhood using light sensors, photographs, environmental data, and short reports from people walking those routes.

Team

I design systems around human behavior and real experiences. I can combine mapping, data collection, software, and visual storytelling into a prototype that people can immediately understand.

Funding

No displayed figures preserved for this project.

Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
