A haptisonic VR project inspired by an artist’s experience making meaning in a place where she has no personal history.
arts-mediaclimate-ecology
This VR project explores memory, migration and our agency to shape our environments. With a site-specific installation and custom haptic jacket, the experience reflects on making meaning in places with varying levels of personal connection to myself.
This journey guides one to slow down and discover new ways of engaging with the world. We feel our interactions as vibration on the body with the haptic jacket. What you can’t see, you feel, bringing attention to traces that often go unnoticed.
With 70% funded, we’re in post-production. Our first version premiered at SXSW this year. The project began with a Fulbright to work with the German research institute Matters of Activity. Your support would cover final development/exhibition costs.
As an Asian-American artist, I explore themes of migration, and have over a decade of experience producing digital and film content. Hearing responses to the project has been the most fulfilling part of the journey, and I hope to continue sharing it.
No displayed figures preserved for this project.
Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
