Expanding access to self-directed, nature-based learning for children, families, and communities.
Learning is not confined to four walls or a standardized path; it is alive, and it grows through caring mentors, meaningful experiences, and a deep relationship with the places we call home. Rooted in Reciprocity Fund supports educators, mentors, artists, naturalists, and community leaders creating immersive, self-directed, nature-based learning, and works to make those experiences accessible to every child and family, regardless of income, background, learning differences, or circumstance. At its heart is reciprocity: the understanding that we are not separate from one another or the living world, and that every action can contribute, restore, and inspire.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Projects must help children and families experience self-directed, nature-based learning through creativity, mentorship, place, and community.
- Increase access and equity: scholarships, free or sliding-scale programs, outdoor experiences, creative projects, or learning opportunities that remove real barriers.
- Nurture curiosity, confidence, compassion, reciprocity, and a lifelong relationship with learning and the living world.
- Learning should be alive, meaningful, and rooted in relationships between children, families, communities, and the land itself.
- Open to educators, mentors, artists, naturalists, community leaders, and lifelong learners designing immersive, place-based programs.
