About
I'm developing an immersive, Afro-futurist musical inspired by the teachings of West African shaman Malidoma Somé, who refers to Gatekeepers as those who express themselves as Queer and maintain the balance between the physical and spiritual worlds.
Impact
The Last Gatekeeper explores the racial, social, and spiritual oppression of the Black Queer community and serves as an affirmation of their individual and collective power. It honors the lineage of Black, Queer visionaries who’ve championed change.
Progress
Virtual reading funded by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, won Artizen's Black Realities Grant, semi-finalist for the National Playwrights Conference and Creative Capital Award, featured in ‘Make Them Hear You’ Black Writers Showcase at 54 Below.
Team
I have over 20 years of experience creating, arranging, and producing music for independent artists, theater productions, and concerts. I am a budding spiritualist, and ordained minister interested in African Spirituality and Black folk magic.
