Seeking Creative Afrocentric-Based Projects led by Independent Storytellers and Artists Based in Nigeria and/or Africa.
The Capitol Film Fund for Afrocentric Storytellers exists to support and provide a launching pad for independent and indigenous Nigerian and African storytellers, artists, creatives and communities that are using film, storytelling, content creation and visual arts and technology who are committed to telling African stories, fostering pan Africanism and executing visually captivating narratives that is rooted deeply in Nigerian and African Heritage. With a strong focus on Abuja-based creators and Nigerian-led projects, this Fund supports films and festivals that explore African history, culture, Afrofuturism, and contemporary realities but is also open to creators and storytellers from other Nations of Africa should your project be too irresistible for us to ignore. Please also note that it is imperative that the lead creator(s) for a project must be Independent (not backed by a government or corporation) with a track record in storytelling and film and must incorporate film into the project idea and it’s entire process or experience. By backing both emerging and experienced storytellers, this Fund aims to strengthen Nigeria’s indie film ecosystem and support African voices that are shaping the future of cinema.
