Empowering independent XR creators across Latin America to tell stories that matter through innovative and ethical immer

The MAIX Fund supports Latin American XR artists creating powerful, cross-disciplinary work that speaks to the region’s complex cultural and social realities. By uplifting hybrid narratives rooted in popular culture, identity, and ethical practice, the fund aims to ignite a new wave of immersive storytelling that is as technically bold as it is socially resonant. Winners will participate in Festivals like Curta Brasilia (Brazil), VRFest and GIFF (Mexico), #NarrarElFuturo (Colombia), and more. They will also receive three hours of consulting from community experts. Learn more at maix.art

Eligibility

This Fund is dedicated to empowering creators based in Latin America who explore the intersection of art, technology, and community through XR. We seek projects that challenge dominant narratives, highlight underrepresented voices, and hybridize disciplines to reshape immersive storytelling across the region.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Be led by creators based in Latin American countries.
- Utilize XR technologies (AR, VR, MR) as a core storytelling or experiential medium.
- Center artistic exploration of Latin American popular culture or current social realities.
- Demonstrate creative excellence, technical innovation, and ethical intentionality.
- Embrace collaboration, co-creation, or community engagement in some form.
- Prioritize diverse perspectives, including those from Indigenous, Afro-descendant, LGBTQIA+, and other underrepresented communities.
- Be original, impactful, and feasible within the proposed timeline.
