Neurodivergent Builders Fund

Seeking neurodivergent creators building products, technology, and creative work for neurodivergent people.

The Neurodivergent Builders Fund supports founders, artists, designers, and creators transforming lived neurodivergent experience into products, tools, and creative work that make life more accessible, empowering, and joyful. We believe some of the world's most important innovations emerge from people who experience it differently. From AI and assistive technology to accessibility software, creative projects, and consumer products, we champion builders creating products and experiences specifically for neurodivergent people.

Eligibility

We welcome neurodivergent founders, artists, designers, engineers, and creators building products, platforms, tools, creative works, or community initiatives that meaningfully improve life for neurodivergent people and communities. We especially value projects that combine lived experience with thoughtful design, accessibility, and a commitment to supporting others through technology, creativity, or community.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Neurodivergent Leadership: Projects should be led by a neurodivergent creator or intentionally designed to meaningfully benefit neurodivergent communities. In all cases, the project should demonstrate a meaningful connection to neurodivergent experience through what it creates, how it is designed, or who it serves.
- Consumer or Community Focus: We support products, software, AI tools, assistive technology, accessibility solutions, creative works, educational experiences, digital platforms, and community initiatives intended for public or community use.
- Early-Stage Innovation: Projects may be at the idea, prototype, MVP, beta, or recently launched stage, but should demonstrate meaningful progress.
- Proof of Work: Applicants should provide evidence of momentum through a prototype, demo, design work, code repository, pilot program, creative portfolio, or community traction.
- Accessibility by Design: Projects should thoughtfully reduce barriers through accessible design, inclusive language, sensory considerations, multiple ways to participate, or other practices appropriate to the product or experience.
- Privacy & Trust: Projects handling personal information should clearly explain how user data is collected, stored, protected, and used, particularly when AI or sensitive health information is involved.
- Completed project page: A project page that includes a video, pitch deck, and Artifacts.
- Community Contribution: We value founders who actively share knowledge, celebrate fellow creators, make introductions, mentor others, participate in community discussions, and help strengthen the ecosystem beyond their own project.
- Positive Impact: We seek projects whose primary purpose or design meaningfully improves everyday life for neurodivergent people or neurodivergent communities. Neurodivergent leadership alone is not sufficient.
Preference will be given to projects that offer scholarships, free access, or other pathways for people who could not otherwise afford their product or service.
What's generally not a fit:
- Professional service practices where the primary offering is coaching, consulting, counseling, therapy, or other client services, rather than a distinct product, platform, tool, or creative work.
- Personal-brand businesses where the product is essentially the founder rather than a distinct product, tool, or creative work.
- Academic research projects.
To help us evaluate your project fairly:
• Address the eligibility criteria directly. Explain why your project belongs in this fund. Don't assume we'll connect the dots. Show how your project benefits neurodivergent people through what it creates, how it's designed, or who it serves.
• Be specific. If you mention accessibility, privacy, AI, or community impact, explain the design decisions behind those claims rather than making general statements.
• Write this application as if we're seeing your project for the first time. Include enough context that someone unfamiliar with your work can understand what you've built and why it matters.
• Use the available space. Thoughtful, detailed answers help us understand your project and lead to better funding decisions.
• In your submission, also include: how your project handles and protects user data (if applicable), how you hope to contribute to this community beyond your own project, and a link to a video of you in an Artizen showcase.
Reapplying: We welcome updated submissions. If your project evolves, your project page is completed, or you've addressed the feedback that led to a previous decline, you're encouraged to apply again.
