About
We’re creating a living digital archive of Wixarika beadwork, yarn paintings, and embroidery—photographed with artisans, documented with elders, and shared as a design library for learning, preservation, and respectful access.
Impact
As youth leave Wixarika villages and elders pass on, irreplaceable knowledge is at risk. The archive preserves ancestral patterns for future generations and creates fair new income for artisans through community-led digital licensing.
Progress
Through YuPa A.C., we already work in trusted partnership with Wixarika communities. We have begun documenting elder knowledge, created early photo sets, and digitised sample patterns as the foundation for ethical licensing and fair income.
Team
As YuPa’s only non-Indigenous founding member, I have spent over a decade building trusted relationships with Wixarika families and leaders. I serve as a bridge and enabler, connecting resources and technology while the community leads.
