Empowering Regen rebels to envision renewable futures —where Solarpunk ideals meet Pirate codes
We champion creators who fuse the radical optimism of Solarpunk with the rebellious self-governance of the Pirate Codes. Solarpunk envisions a future where humanity thrives in harmony with Nature: powered by renewables, shaped by decentralized systems, and guided by equity and imagination. Pirate Codes were early models of self-organized societies, built on democracy, fair resource sharing, and mutual aid. Together, they offer a bold blueprint for regenerative, community-led futures. This Fund supports projects, especially from or for island communities, that bring these ideals to life through immersive art, sustainable tech, and playful systems thinking. From solar-powered games to regenerative DAOs, this fund backs techno-optimists designing new systems, by land, sea, and server.
We support artists, technologists, and system-rebuilders who fuse Solarpunk optimism with Pirate pragmatism. Projects should embody the values of sustainable design, decentralized governance, and collective resilience, especially across or inspired by island communities. To qualify, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Solarpunk-Aligned: Projects must reflect the core Solarpunk principles: renewable energy, ecological harmony, community decentralization, social inclusivity, and a vision of hopeful futures.
- Inspired by Pirate Codes: Proposals should embrace democratic structures, equitable resource sharing, and mutual protection, aka modern reinterpretations of historic pirate codes.
- Community-Centric: Whether physical or digital, projects must foster collaboration, self-governance, and shared ownership within communities.
- Creative & Technological Fusion: Must integrate art with tools for regeneration. Think immersive design, open-source systems, storytelling worlds, or DAOs.
- Island or Frontier-Focused: Priority will be given to projects rooted in or designed for island communities, both geographic and conceptual.
- Open Source or Cosmo-local in Spirit: Favoring projects that localize production while sharing global knowledge.
- Any Stage Welcome: From early sketches to functioning prototypes, so long as the vision is clear and bold.
