About
Kazi mpya is Swahili for "new work." It's a two-week residency in Fumba Town on the coast of Zanzibar, for twenty young African early-career professors doing work critical for the Continent's future.
Impact
Learning how to use AI is it's own job that many high-agency professionals do not have time for in their day-to-day. We structure that time for early career, African leaders who will leverage these tools to change the world.
Progress
Three successful iterations of the Zanzalu pop-up city bringing together founders, technologists, academics, investors and policymakers for several weeks each year.
Team
I work at the Charter Cities Institute, which drafted ZIPA's strategic plan and helped bring the pop-up city to Fumba. I know how to run this here and how to recruit talent from Dar, Nairobi and Kampala.
