About
I’m leading a community-driven project to protect sharks in the Mesoamerican Reef, combining local knowledge from fishers and divers with grassroots education to inspire ocean stewardship across generations.
Impact
We’re regenerating reef ecosystems while empowering local communities through science, storytelling, and education—bridging people and nature to protect sharks and the biodiversity they support. https://www.marsustentable.org/
Progress
We've mapped shark habitats with local divers and fishers, launched youth education programs, published research, and gained early international grant support. In 2024 alone, our project reached over 100,000 people through community-driven impact.
Team
As a marine biologist with deep roots in Cozumel, I’ve spent years uniting science, community, and art to protect the ocean. I lead Mar Sustentable a nonprofit, and this project is built from trust, local knowledge, and lived experience.
