About
In The (Un)forgotten Refugee Project am making a documentary that starts with my mom. In the 1960s she was a refugee in UN camps for almost three years. She decided to write down her story and I decided to take it the next step, into filmmaking.
Impact
This form of micro-storytelling can serve as a template for others to document their own stories of communities lost or shaken through historical events, and to retell them for generations to come in new and ever-evolving ways.
Progress
This is just beginning! I'll be shooting in my mother's tiny island village August, amidst the bustle of a busy tourist season. This is when the elder expats return "home." We will begin with flora, fauna and interviews.
Team
As the daughter of a refugee I understand place and the absence of place. I understand that displacement causes loss and I want to explore recovery through the universal patterns of adaptation, change, and resilience.

| Season | Fund | Status | Applied |

| Season 4 | Filecoin Fund for Cultural Preservation | submitted | 2024-08-02 |
Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
