Embodied Mastery Fund for Living Lineages

Seeking lifelong practitioners preserving and transmitting the world's great embodied traditions through movement, craft, and direct human teaching.

The Embodied Mastery Fund supports the wisdom keepers whose knowledge cannot be learned from a book alone. We believe the world's greatest movement traditions—martial arts, yoga, qi gong, dance, bodywork, tea ceremony, and countless other embodied crafts—are carried through living practice and direct transmission from teacher to student. This fund exists to help lifelong masters preserve their lineage by creating workshops, apprenticeships, retreats, recordings, books, and other resources that ensure their knowledge is passed to the next generation before it is lost.

Eligibility

We welcome lifelong practitioners whose relationship to their craft is fundamentally embodied and whose work is rooted in decades of dedicated practice. Whether your discipline is ancient or contemporary, widely known or highly specialized, we're looking for masters whose knowledge deserves to be transmitted and whose project will make that transmission possible.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Demonstrate deep, sustained mastery of an embodied discipline—typically twenty years or more of dedicated practice—through lineage, training history, peer recognition, or a demonstration of the craft.
- Work in a practice where movement, physical awareness, or embodied skill is central, including martial arts, yoga, qi gong, dance, Feldenkrais, bodywork, tea ceremony, traditional crafts, or related disciplines.
- Present a clear plan for transmitting knowledge through workshops, apprenticeships, retreats, educational materials, books, films, recordings, residencies, or other forms of teaching that will outlive the project.
- Demonstrate the ability to teach as well as perform, through previous students, testimonials, teaching experience, or other evidence that the practice can be successfully passed on.
- Create a lasting resource, body of work, or learning experience that enables future generations to benefit from the knowledge being preserved.
- Projects that support elder practitioners or make the difference between a lineage being transmitted or disappearing are especially encouraged.
