Empowering street artists to reclaim public space and foster authentic community through live painting.
The UP Fund champions the raw brilliance of street art, graffiti, and urban expression. As an NYC-based publication rooted in the pulse of the city, UP supports artists who paint in public, outside of institutions, and often against the odds. This Fund is dedicated to projects that bring live painting to the streets, showcase emerging voices, and celebrate the vibrancy of urban culture while fostering true community connection.
We fund public art experiences that prioritize access, equity, and community. Only projects that materially support street artists and embody the values of equitable placemaking will be considered.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Must include a live art element such as live painting, graffiti, or street mural creation.
- Must be free and publicly accessible—no ticketed events or gated spaces.
- Must showcase at least one emerging artist.
- Must actively engage local community members and/or amplify neighborhood culture.
- Cannot be affiliated with or produced by large institutions, museums, or commercial galleries.
Lastly, you must be open to collaboration (within reason) with UP Magazine across all channels, including emerging projects featuring your work!
Each creator may submit only one project to this Fund per season. If multiple submissions are received from the same creator, the Fund Director will select the one that best aligns with the Fund’s mission and remove the others.
