About
Tortuga is a dark comedy series about a morally staunch Black Englishman who finds himself trapped on an island of very queer pirates. He must navigate their hierarchies and release many of his own inhibitions if he ever plans to make it home alive.
Impact
The real pirates of the 1600's were very openly gay and queer men. They had queer systems for love, marriage and inheritance. Their stories have been "straight-washed" for years and Tortuga shines a light on this long-forgotten queer history.
Progress
I've written a full pilot and completed a show bible. I also have a prominent actor attached to play the lead role.
Team
I'm Black and queer and love writing stories that meet at the crossing of those two identities. Tortuga explores the forgotten queer world of pirates and features two Black protagonists. I'm also a writer who loves BIG worlds. Tortuga is a big world.

Season totals as displayed on the platform's public accounting — not a statement of amounts paid out. V2 = Venus sales + Venus extras. The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
