Earth School Fund for Living Villages

Seeking projects that help people learn by living, growing, and building regenerative communities together.

The Earth School Fund for Living Villages supports creators building a new model of education rooted in land, community, and lived experience. We believe some of life's most important lessons cannot be taught in classrooms—they are learned by growing food, building homes, stewarding ecosystems, and living in intentional communities. From eco-villages and regenerative farms to apprenticeships, cultural exchanges, and action-based learning programs, we champion projects helping people cultivate more resilient, self-reliant, and regenerative ways of living together. We believe the future will be grown, not built. This fund exists to support the people growing it.

Eligibility

We welcome homesteaders, organic farmers, eco-villages, intentional communities, educators, designers, land stewards, and community organizers creating opportunities for people to learn through meaningful collaboration with one another and the Earth. We are especially excited by projects that combine regenerative agriculture, self-governance, ecological design, and hands-on education to cultivate thriving communities.
To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Action-Based Learning: Projects should create hands-on educational experiences where participants learn by building, growing, stewarding, or collaborating together.
- Regenerative Practice: Every project should include meaningful agricultural, horticultural, ecological restoration, or land stewardship as part of the learning experience.
- Intentional Collaboration: Projects should foster collaboration between hosts, apprentices, volunteers, or residents through clearly defined learning goals and shared responsibilities.
- Self-Governance: Communities should document their mission, values, agreements, decision-making processes, and approaches to conflict resolution to help participants thrive together.
- Knowledge Sharing: Projects should document lessons learned through journals, guides, videos, workshops, research, open educational resources, or other formats that allow future communities to benefit from their experience.
- Living Villages: We welcome eco-villages, homesteads, intentional communities, regenerative farms, cultural exchange programs, apprenticeships, residencies, and other collaborative living experiments.
- Reciprocal Exchange: Learning should benefit both hosts and participants through fair exchange, mutual respect, and clearly communicated expectations.
- Growing Together: Above all, we seek projects that help people grow—personally, socially, and ecologically—while cultivating healthier relationships with one another and the living world.
