About
WE ARE VR is a community that brings experiential media creators together in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. Together, we're building the Immersive Technology Capital of Africa. A hub fostering artistic creativity and engineering excellence.
Impact
Johannesburg is home to immense talent. A pantheon of historic immersive projects has emerged from this African hub. Since 2018, WE ARE VR has fostered a community that nurtures this talent. We will continue to bring these experiences to the world.
Progress
We have thrown ourselves into growing the immersive technology industry in the region. We've run local meetups, workshops, hackathons, talks, and more (www.wearevrjozi.org) Among our many initiatives is the Africa XR Report (www.africaxrreport.com)
Team
WE ARE VR is a community of volunteers, led by Dale "Deac" Deacon, an award-winning immersive technologist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Deac has organised and managed community development initiatives around the world for almost a decade.
