About
A women-led Tatreez collective in Cairo where displaced Palestinians gather to create, connect, and support one another, carrying their cultural identity forward while building security through shared practice and tradition.
Impact
This work keeps Palestinian cultural identity alive in the diaspora, building community and safe space for healing, connection, and continuity, while supporting women in restoring dignity, confidence and a sense of belonging as they regain stability.
Progress
After 1.5 years in operation, 200 women have now completed the training and joined the collective, creating handmade pieces sold at local bazaars and commissioned work, including for UNESCO. More: https://instagram.com/threadofhope88
Team
I have been closely connected to this work for over two years, supporting it on the ground alongside Alaa Shaker. I helped establish the space where the workshops take place and continue to support the collective through resources and visibility.

The original page also broke each season down by fund drive and showed an Available (unclaimed) balance; that level of detail survives only on the preserved snapshots.
