Supporting builders of modern third places that foster connection, creativity, and collaboration
The Third Place Fund backs creators building community hubs that feel like a social club, library, and coffee shop rolled into one. These are physical third places, cosmo-local by design, that offer open access for work, play, and cultural exchange. We fund the next generation of community spaces cultivating deep belonging and global collaboration.
Eligibility
We support projects that design and operate physical hubs rooted in cosmo-localism—spaces where local identity meets global connection. These hubs must foster community, creativity, and open participation. To qualify for this fund, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements: - Be a physical hub or third place that blends social, work, and cultural elements. - Attract and engage both local residents and global participants through a shared interest or purpose. - Include open, accessible areas for work and social connection. - Offer a public calendar of events, workshops, or knowledge-sharing opportunities. - For new spaces: Explain what type of space you plan to acquire and for what kind of community - For existing spaces: Describe the type of improvements the funds will contribute towards (new furniture, amenities, etc.) Each creator may submit only one project to this Fund per season. If multiple submissions are received from the same creator, the Fund Director will select the one that best aligns with the Fund’s mission and remove the others.
